Business Analyst - 18-month FTC

TPG Telecom has recently announced the sale of its fibre network infrastructure assets and enterprise, government and wholesale fixed business. Over the coming months we will undertake detailed separation and transition planning to prepare for this exciting transaction and ensure our teams and customers are supported through this process.

For this we will require a BI Business Analyst who will be responsible for ensuring that true business needs are clearly identified and stated. This includes all requirements needed to deliver and maintain the solution such as required performance, tools and reporting.

You'll make impact by: 

• Create and/or document the Opportunity Canvas, Program Epics, User stories that provide sufficient detail in preparation for the regular backlog grooming sessions.
• Documenting clear functional and non-functional requirements and processes including but not limited to business, performance, operational, system, reporting, security, scalability and / or usability requirements.
• Documenting the As Is and To Be processes in BPMN2.0. The As-Is diagram describes the present state of the organization's process, culture, and capabilities. The To-Be diagram describes the future state; how the organization's process, culture, and capabilities will appear in the future.
• Own and manage the feature-level Squad Backlog and provide the delivery squad with clarity and guidance on prioritisation at card level.
• Participate in agile ceremonies i.e. estimation sessions, planning meetings, daily stand ups, showcases, and team retrospectives.
• Document the Acceptance criteria to ensure requirements/user stories are validated throughout the lifecycle of any project/program.
• Review the QA /Test Strategy, Plan and Test Cases. Verify the Test Results against the Acceptance Criteria. Support the Test effort as & when required.
• Ensure that deliverables are peer reviewed within /across Squads & Tribes to assure and improve quality.
• Provide feedback in the retrospectives on opportunities to improve & enhancing effectiveness of the effort.
• Forecast and communicate business benefits of feature developments before release and report on actual impact post-release, supporting benefit realisation measurement.
• Ensure true business needs are clearly identified and clearly understood at the root so that the most effective and efficient solutions can be derived.
• Own and represent the business requirement gathering activity within a project or initiative.
• Manage scope of the requirements documentation and comply with change management procedures.
• Create the traceability matrix to ensure requirements are managed throughout the lifecycle of any project/program.
• Identify and promote the definition and reuse of common business processes and practices.
• Develop, refine and rollout common processes and procedures for business analysis.
• Identify areas for improvement and ensure that any necessary changes are identified and implemented.
• Ensure that deliverables are peer reviewed to assure and improve quality.
• Review design and testing documents and work with technology and testing teams to ensure business requirements are satisfied.
• Support testing in confirming the validity and testing of the requirements (that is, confirm that the requirements meet the business needs from both a functional and non functional perspective).
• Ensure that stakeholders are kept apprised of the status of requirements and the scope of the deliverables.
• Drive process improvement by documenting such areas of improvement and initiating discussions and/or by ensuring the proposed solution addresses such areas.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience as a Data Business Analyst or similar role.
• Experience with Data Migration / Data Separation
• Experienced in Data Mapping
• Proficiency in Data Analysis tools such as Excel, SQL
• Knowledge of IT Systems & Databases (e.g Pyxis, Sybase)
• Proficiency in BI tools e.g.Tableau, PowerBI, Qlikview
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Effective negotiation and customer management skills
• An understanding of user needs and a focus on the business outcome
• A logical approach to problem solving and an investigative and inquisitive mind
• Experience in collating and documenting requirements
• Self-motivating and assertive
• Highly developed time management skills and ability to prioritise workload
• Good understanding of Telco business
• Excellent facilitation skills, to lead requirements elicitation workshops and present project information to project stakeholders
