What’s the opportunity?
The Clinical Support Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the required aspects of the day-to-day clinical functions of the 1800RESPECT including Clinical Supervision, Auditing, Coaching and Training.
About the role:
As a 1800RESPECT Clinical Support Specialist you will be responsible for providing Clinical Supervision, Auditing, Coaching and other clinical tasks relevant to the organisation such as supporting with onboarding and training of new staff members. You will report directly the Senior Clinical Support Specialist.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide Ongoing Coaching and Supervision: Offer regular coaching, feedback, and clinical supervision to counsellors, helping them to continually improve their performance and enhance the quality of support they provide to individuals seeking support.
- Monitor Performance: Assess the performance of counsellors through various methods, such as call monitoring, case reviews, and evaluations, to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate Professional Development: Organize and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for counsellors, including workshops, seminars, and conferences, to keep them up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault and workplace sexual harassment support services.
- Establish Performance Metrics: Develop and implement performance metrics and evaluation criteria to measure the effectiveness of training and coaching efforts, ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of support provided by counsellors.
- Collaborate with Clinical Management: Work closely with management and other relevant stakeholders to identify organizational needs, set training objectives, and develop strategies for achieving those objectives.
- Develop and Implement Training Programs: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs and materials to educate and prepare counsellors for their roles, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources.
- Maintain Training Records: Accurately document all training activities, including attendance, participation, and progress, in a secure and organized manner, ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with established guidelines.
- Foster a Supportive Environment: Cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages open communication, collaboration, and professional growth among counsellors.
- Stay Informed: Continuously research and stay updated on the latest developments in the field of domestic violence, sexual assault, and related support services, ensuring that training programs and materials remain relevant and effective.
- Contribute to Program Development: Assist in the development and implementation of new programs, services, or initiatives aimed at enhancing the support and resources available to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, workplace sexual harassment or other related issues.
Working Arrangements
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts and outside of normal business hours on occasions to meet operational requirements.
- Willingness to undertake further training and development.

About you:
- Demonstrated experience in evidence-based counselling; (this may include face-to-face, phone and/or online counselling) or equivalent experience in specialised domestic, family and sexual violence counselling.
- A completed minimum bachelors degree from an approved provider (Approved courses can be found via the relevant peak body)
- Be eligible to register (or) hold current registration with one of the Professional Bodies at the required level: PACFA - Clinical, ACA - Lvl3 or above, Full - AASW or General Registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist.
- Holder of a current working with children check/vulnerable people check relevant to your State, or proof of application prior to interview
- Minimum 4 years trauma counselling experience (preferably telephone counselling) or full time equivalent experience in specialised sexual assault, domestic and family violence counselling.
- A private room/space which can be used for your home office set up with reliable internet connection
- Strong computer skills (experience with using systems, MS Word, excel, outlook and internet)
- Capacity to work and support staff, whilst remaining calm and embedding self-care practices.
- Ability to rapidly develop a thorough knowledge of 1800RESPECT’s delivery model, including counselling model, policies and procedures.
- A robust understanding of federal and state-based legislation, including child protection legislation relevant to service delivery.
- A demonstrated understanding and experience of quality practice standards and understanding process involved in compliance.
