What’s the opportunity?
The Pursuit Manager is responsible for covering all activities in the pursuit cycle from establishing and coordinating the capture / pursuit strategy through to the proposal strategy and bid management of significant pursuits, customer presentations and demonstrations. In overseeing the entire pursuit cycle for significant opportunities, from developing and coordinating the capture and pursuit strategy to leading bid strategy and management, this role is responsible for identifying key opportunities, aligning internal teams, and ensuring the pursuit approach is tailored to win. In managing the successful pursuit of business aligned bids, the Pursuit Manager is working with the bid managers domestically and internationally as part of the wider Telstra Health team to realise a connected and improved digital health experience for all.
About the role:
The Pursuit Manager leads bid teams, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and oversees the creation of compelling proposals that highlight Telstra Health’s strengths. Key accountabilities that sit under the Pursuit Manager role include:
Strategic Pursuits Leadership
- Create a centre of excellence for strategic pursuits that focusses on winning profitable business for Telstra Health.
- Responsible for the development of win strategies and the end-to-end pursuit management of our most strategic opportunities.
- Lead submittal quality efforts; review proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations; and participate in strategy facilitation for Growth and Bid teams.
- Monitor and review market trends, investment activities and requests from government and private sector customers.
- Support pre-sales efforts in developing unsolicited proposals and supporting content.
- Collaborate across pre-sales solutions specialists and technical consultants to develop customer-facing content and to solve specific customer problems.
Bid Development
- Supporting the development of bids and proposals in collaboration with the bid team, growth team (Business Development Managers, Account Executives & Account Managers) and other key stakeholders (Pre-Sales Solutions Specialists, Technical Consultants, Practice Consultants, Product and Technical Owners, Legal, Pricing).
- Collaborate closely with sales, product, and technical teams to refine strategies and manage deadlines, ensuring a seamless, well-executed pursuit process.
Staff Support and Development
- Provide coaching on presentations and pitches to ensure clear, persuasive communication of value propositions.
- Mentor and train staff to support consistent, high-quality pre-sales practices and deliverables.
- Contribute to pre-sales collateral and knowledge base.
About you:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Project Management, Technology or a related field is typically required.
- A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or other relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in bid management, sales support, pre-sales consulting or business development, ideally within the health industry.
- Experience in structuring and writing major proposals, strategic plans or business cases.
- A background including software vendor, systems integrator or consulting industry experience in a pre-sales, consulting or project delivery capacity would be looked upon favourably.
- Digital Health specific experience would be highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated success in managing high-value, complex bids and proposals.
- Proven experience in developing strategies for winning proposals, presentations and demonstrations.
- Strong project management skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for creating compelling proposals and coordinating with stakeholders.
