What’s the opportunity?

The ICT Procurement and Asset Manager plays a vital role in realising a connected and improved digital health experience by effectively managing the organisation’s software and hardware assets and ICT procurement throughout their lifecycle. This includes ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimising asset utilisation, and implementing robust asset management processes. By enhancing asset management strategies and driving continuous improvement, this role ensures that the necessary technology is available and functioning optimally, supporting efficient healthcare delivery and seamless user experiences.


About the role:

The ICT and Procurement and Asset Manager plays a critical role in optimising the organisation's asset management practices and ICT procurement processes, ensuring compliance, enhancing efficiency, and fostering collaboration to support Telstra Health's strategic goals. Their key accountabilities include:

ICT Procurement and Asset Management

The ICT Procurement and Asset Manager is responsible for strategic oversight of the organisation’s ICT Procurement and asset management process, ensuring the optimisationand compliance of all assets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the ICT procurement processes and managing vendor relationships to secure cost-effective asset acquisition strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Leading the management of the full lifecycle of software and hardware assets, from acquisition through to retirement, ensuring the organisation maximises value and adheres to compliance standards.
  • Ensuring accurate and up-to-date asset records, including licenses, warranties, and asset statuses, are maintained for effective decision-making and risk management.
  • Conducting regular analyses of asset utilisation to uncover potential cost savings and optimise resource allocation, contributing to operational efficiency.
  • Reviewing business cases to ensure alignment with organisational goals and determining the best procurement approaches based on requirements and potential benefits.

Quality Assurance and Improvement

This role plays a crucial part in strengthening Telstra Health’s risk management framework and enhancing its business intelligence through continuous quality assurance and improvement initiatives:

  • Leading efforts to ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and regulations by conducting audits to reduce non-compliance risks.
  • Developing and refining best practices for asset management, implementing continuous improvement strategies that enhance organisational efficiency.
  • Proactively identifying and mitigating risks tied to software licensing and asset management, ensuring that robust risk management protocols are in place.
  • Spearheading opportunities to digitise and streamline asset processes, which in turn optimises Telstra Health's overall business intelligence capabilities.

Reporting and Metrics

To provide senior management with actionable insights and support strategic decisions, the ICT Procurement and Asset Manager will:

  • Generate and interpret detailed reports on asset performance, compliance, and utilisation metrics, providing senior leadership with clear insights to inform decision-making.
  • Present data-driven recommendations on asset management and performance improvements, ensuring that organisational goals are met through enhanced efficiency and accountability.

Communication and Collaboration

To ensure asset management strategies are fully aligned with organisational objectives, the ICT Procurement and Asset Manager fosters collaboration and open communication acrossteams:

  • Facilitate clear, consistent communication with both external vendors and internal stakeholders, including cross-functional teams such as IT, finance, and procurement, to drive alignment on asset management strategies.
  • Collaborate with key departments to ensure the integration of asset management initiatives with the broader organisational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee vendor management, ensuring that contracts are effectively negotiated and service level agreements (SLAs) are met to maintain quality partnerships.

People and Culture Leadership

As a leader within Telstra Health, the ICT Procurement and Asset Manager is responsible for:

  • Driving a collaborative and accountable culture that emphasises continuous improvement, setting the tone for excellence in asset management.
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to team members, fostering engagement and development through coaching and performance support.
  • Leading initiatives that reinforce Telstra Health’s values, contributing to enhanced employee satisfaction and creating a positive work environment


About you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • ITIL or relevant asset management certification (desirable)
  • 5+ years of experience in IT asset management or related roles.
  • Familiarity with asset management tools and software.
  • In-depth knowledge of software and hardware asset management practices and tools.
  • Experience using strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on optimising asset utilisation and cost management.
  • Experience in demonstrating attention to detail to ensure accurate asset tracking and compliance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
