What’s the opportunity?

The Clinical Director has a critical role across Telstra Health and is accountable for ensuring clinical safety and culture across products and services.

Responsible for upholding and maintaining the standards of clinical governance within the organisation. By ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery, they oversee clinical risk management, lead in the design of clinical digital solutions, and ensure strict adherence to regulatory and compliance standards across all services and solutions in their portfolio

As a clinical excellence advocate and an architect of change across different healthcare contexts you will work closely with Telstra Health implementation, strategy, product, technology, customer success, sales and marketing teams to uphold and maintain the standards of clinical governance within the organisation and any external bodies representing Telstra Health.

This is a permanent, fully-remote, part-time role. Travel may be required.

About the role:

  • Lead clinical safety across solutions, providing expertise to all areas that may present clinical risk, advising staff, developing policy and procedures and reporting to Telstra Health on clinical safety
  • Provide visible leadership and commitment in delivering and supporting the strategic implementation of the Telstra Health Clinical Governance Framework and enterprise clinical governance strategy and escalate any issues that require attention
  • Lead and monitor the development, implementation & evaluation of clinical governance work plans/success maps, ensuring alignment with overall Clinical Excellence Team Success Maps.
  • Ensure adequate clinical resources are directed towards ensuring consistently safe, quality digital health products and services 
  • Establish and maintain clinical business intelligence data required to measure performance outcomes and facilitate the use of this data to inform recommendations/improvements in clinical governance and service delivery 
  • Educate staff on clinical safety through presentations, upskilling, informally and remedially
  • Provide thought leadership in external forums and meetings including conferences, summits, journals, industry publications and with stakeholders
  • Lead Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) work, whether performed by the Clinical Director or supporting other clinicians. The Clinical Director is required to undergo CSO training (see CSO JD for responsibilities and duties)
  • Lead quality activities such as audits, investigations of incidents and issues, management of a risk register, regular clinical governance meetings and attendance at Telstra Health clinical management/governance committee meetings
  • Awareness and leadership of compliance with standards and regulatory requirements within the relevant jurisdiction, domestic and/or international.
  • Attendance at meetings and activities where clinical expertise and input is required
  • Present on clinical matters to Telstra Health All Hands and other relevant internal communication forums
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical policies and procedures
  • Reporting on relevant activities to Clinical Governance Committee meetings to ensure operational alignment and compliance with organisational clinical governance and quality assurance/management principles, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Organise and chair clinical advisory meetings where appropriate and/or delegated
  • Providing clinical leadership for incidents, particularly SAC-1 and SAC-2 and attend any MIM accordingly or as delegated
  • Provide clinical representation in meetings with customers, where workflows and software demonstrations are required
  • Review and approval of all safety documentation including Clinical Safety Reviews, Clinical Safety Case Reports, Clinical Risk Registers and Hazard Logs
  • Engage in external-facing work with stakeholders, customers, government, and industry bodies, where relevant, while advocating for the organisation and representing it at industry events clinical innovation, information and idea sharing within and across teams.

About you:

  • MBBS or equivalent with current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • RACGP Fellowship as a General Practitioner with minimum 5+ years’ experience as an APHRA-registered (or equivalent) clinician in Primary Care.
  • Desirable experience in community care and/or aged care settings.
  • Bachelor degree qualification in an area of digital health OR digital health qualification awarded by a recognised professional organisation (e.g. Fellow/Associate Fellow/CHIA of Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH) etc.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in digital health and/or clinical/health informatics.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and standards
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership in clinical governance in digital health
  • A passion for innovation and customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrated ability to credibly engage with a wide variety of clinical stakeholders
  • Tenacity and the ability to work with ambiguity 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
