The opportunity
As the Senior Media and Communications Advisor, you will identify opportunities to promote Telstra Health’s activities to a range of internal and external stakeholders, and will develop, implement and manage communication strategies for crisis and issues and sensitive or high-risk announcements.
The Corporate Affairs unit is responsible for Telstra Health’s government relations, policy, communications, marketing and evens activities.
This role will help to support and protect Telstra Health’s reputation and positioning within the health sector. It will also shape strategies across our business and product portfolios to enhance internal communication and culture, and improve brand awareness through external channels such as social media and media opportunities.
Furthermore, this role will require developing, implementing and managing communications campaigns for projects, campaigns, events and important announcements, and identifying other opportunities to engage positively with key internal and external stakeholders.

The key accountabilities include:
Content Creation and Management
- Proactive approach and an enthusiasm for creating content at Australia’s largest health technology and software company.
- Capacity to prepare communications content in a variety of formats, including media releases and responses, case studies, presentations, video, and social media material, to showcase and drive internal and external initiatives.
- Create a wide range of written materials for communications, marketing, and engagement purposes.
- Developing communications assets and collateral for marketing campaigns.
- Manage content collation and drafting of internal and external newsletters.
- Develop assets that bring the Telstra Health story to life and maintain relationships with all business units to successfully achieve this.
Stakeholder Engagement and Event Coordination
- Working with and presenting to senior stakeholders on a variety of projects.
- Support in profiling notable individuals across the Telstra Health team through thought leadership opportunities, events, and articles.
- Support coordination of internal and external events and webinars, aligning themes, topics, and speakers to strategy.
- Building events and media briefs for speaker and thought leadership opportunities.
Culture, Inclusivity, and Brand Reputation
- Coordinate initiatives that drive culture and inclusivity across all business units.
- Identify proactive opportunities to improve or safeguard brand reputation within the health sector and create different forms of content that help achieve this.
Media Monitoring and Communication
- Manage social channels and implement ways to encourage engagement.
- Monitor daily external media, manage issues accordingly, and draft reactive and proactive responses for media opportunities.
- Manage communications for preparing for and responding to sensitive issues, confidential announcements, and business risks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Involvement in corporate affairs activities for tender responses.
About you:
- An undergraduate qualification in communications, change management, digital and social media, public communication, public relations or media.
- 4+ years of experience in communication and marketing campaigns across traditional as well as innovative forums and platforms.
- Evidence of managing and driving internal communications in a large business, with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent writing skills and experience in creating a variety of content outside of written articles, copy, announcements and briefs (e.g. videos, animations, infographics, marketing assets).
- Creating comms and collateral in the event of crisis communications and issues.
- Managing external communications and engagement across mediums including social media channels, Telstra Health website, media opportunities.
- Experience in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Very strong communications background and demonstrated strategic and change communications planning capabilities.
- A deep understanding around how to increase engagement and prioritise the areas for improvement based on their potential impact and baseline performance.
