What’s the opportunity?

The Business and Data Analyst will work collaboratively with other members of the Reporting and Technology Teams and provide analytical support to the business unit more broadly, assisting the team to deliver high-quality reporting and business intelligence solutions. 

 Key Accountabilities & Outcomes:

  •  Engage with a range of stakeholders and users to collect and analyse reporting requirements
  • Develop, enhance and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models to satisfy reporting requirements/obligations
  •  Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure alignment between data analysis and business goals.
  • Translate business needs and requirements into clear, actionable reporting, analytical and technical requirements/specifications.
  • Elaborate and refine functional and non-functional requirements, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Proactively identify and escalate any issues observed within data or its supporting processes which may impact integrity of solutions or data security.
  • Prioritise and manage reporting and analysis requests to meet business goals and timelines.
  • Point of contact for reporting queries, report defect remediation and enhancement requests.
  • Ensure there is adequate processes for ongoing maintenance and support of dashboards and cloud reporting systems such as Snowflake and Power BI.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for operational improvements.
  •  Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to provide insights into specific business problems and questions.
  • Present findings and insights in clear, concise, and actionable formats to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  •  Continuously evaluate and improve data processes, workflows, and reporting systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of reporting deliverables.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and tools that improve data management, reporting, and business intelligence capabilities.
  •  Documentation and maintenance of reporting catalogue, requirements, data definitions, procedures and policies.
  • Review reporting outputs and interpret results to develop meaningful business insights for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop user testing approaches and facilitate testing with end users including, producing test summaries on completion.


About you:

  • Minimum 4 years’ working in a Business/Data Analyst role with experience in requirements elicitation.
  • Ability to succeed in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Competent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a business audience.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy.
  • Desirable advanced Microsoft Excel and SQL experience  
  • Desirable proficiency in PowerBI
  • Desirable proficiency in Snowflake
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and learn in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools and working in cross-functional teams 
  • High enthusiasm, analytic and inquisitive nature. 
  • Essential requirement: The candidate will need to meet the requirements of and obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency Baseline Security Clearance. Australian Citizenship is an essential criterion for this application
  • Tertiary qualifications in a business-related or technology discipline
  • Highly regarded: Business Analyst certification
