What’s the opportunity?
A pricing architect works with Product, Sales and Finance people to determine the ideal price design and level for our offers to the market.
It involves taking product and customer strategy and determining the price design. We do this by analysing customer, product, cost & competitor pricing data against market expectations, and working across the business to ensure pricing is effective.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Pricing, this role is in a small, expert team playing a vital role in the digital transformation of Australian Health industry.
We are customer focused, commercially savvy, rigorous & realistic, and we build systems to build speed.
We work with people all over the business - Product, Sales, Finance, Strategy & operational teams.
Big picture - we champion digital transformation. We support a strategic platform monetization mandate, and we care about how we do what we do.
You goal is to understand customer value, determine pricing strategy, lean into product design thinking, analyse pricing data, develop business case models, monitor trends, specify pricing configuration, and present useful findings to decision-makers.
You enjoy understanding value and the drivers of growth and profitability. You give customer focus the commercial rigor required to guide decisions. You have the people skills to engage, communicate and influence internal and external people at all operational levels.
- Pricing analysts work with complex, maybe messy, information to set competitive prices to win customers and hit commercial goals.
- You are highly analytical. You consider data from across the business, and develop pricing models that work across product & segments over time to capture value, risks & margins.
- Support the business to ensure analysis and advice is delivered in an accurate and timely manner, including briefing of accountable executives and CFO as required.
- Provide in-depth and meaningful insights into Telstra Health business performance at a portfolio level
- Pricing analysts also work with internal operations systems , Salesforce CPQ, and governance processes to make decisions that are implemented and operate as intended
You are responsible for:
- Strategic Pricing: value-based pricing, new business model creation, offering design (e.g. bundles/packages) and price positioning of new products & solutions
- Supporting Product Management teams to execute strategic pricing
- Steer lifecycle pricing as part of the Commercial Business Partnership approach
- Support Deal Desk and Sales teams to keep pricing realistic & actionable
- Be the custodian of pricing master data working with Salesforce CPQ teams
- Monitoring and analyzing the portfolio pricing performance against targets and supporting the Product Managers & Business Partners taking corrective action.
- Be an ambassador to build pricing skills in the organization
- Build financial models and data analytics using excel, PowerBI etc.
- Key customer of Pricing Operations activities to ensure pricing decisions are implemented as intended
- Post implementation reviews to improve pricing learning & outcomes.
- Monitor Industry & customer trends and their relationship to Product & customer strategy
To succeed in this role, you have the following skills and experience:
- Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
- Strong Strategic Marketing, financial analysis, and business acumen
- Strategic pricing experience e.g. value-based pricing, Portfolio pricing etc.
- Conversant with Capex and Opex business models including dynamics of SaaS based businesses / Digital software / service experience in a B2B context
- Effective communication, presentation skills (able to communicate professionally with senior management) & transform analytics into actionable insights/recommendations
- Be a connector between the many parties required to make and implement good pricing decisions
- Patience & ability to see long term implications of short term requirements & opportunities
- Work closely with the business to understand impact of decisions on forecast plans
- Encourage open and transparent communication with empathy & curiosity
- Experience with Salesforce CPQ is a plus
About you:
- Experience working in financial analysis, modelling & business case generation
- Exposure to digital product led / software organisation preferred
- Experience in Sales, Sales support or Product management commercial
- Exposure in multi-dimensional reporting environment
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business or Analysis
