Lead Development Consultant
Sydney Water is investing $34 billion dollars under our Long-Term Capital and Operational Plan to support the state governments housing targets of delivering 377,000 homes by 2029.
As part of this journey, we have some exciting permanent opportunities to join the Growth and Development business as a Lead Development Consultant.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for building and managing productive business relationships with development stakeholders such as developers, water service coordinators, government agencies, and councils, to ensure optimised investment efficiency and liveability outcomes, ultimately assisting the state government achieve its housing targets.
You will be operating within a multi-skilled environment balancing the needs of development and company to ensure Sydney Water’s policies, guidelines and technical standards are met with a positive developer experience.
Responsibilities:
Relationship and Stakeholder Management:
Proactively build and maintain strategic relationships with developers and water service coordinators, ensuring that infrastructure outcomes align with growth and development goals. Provide expert advice to external stakeholders regarding pre-development applications for major sites, while actively engaging in issue resolution to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Data Analysis and Risk Management:
Collect and analyse development servicing data from internal and external sources to inform strategic decision-making. You will identify potential threats and opportunities to enhance service delivery and contribute to project and portfolio risk management by identifying, mitigating, and managing risks throughout the development process.
Regulatory Compliance and Process Improvement:
You will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, legal, and risk management requirements, while also managing costs and recovery processes. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of development application management and actively contribute to initiatives that enhance the developer experience.
Reporting and Process Development:
Your responsibilities will include providing input into formal responses, such as those to the Energy and Water Ombudsman, GIPA, subpoenas, and Ministerials, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. You will also contribute to the development and improvement of internal guidelines, systems, and processes to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with relevant standards.
Who are we looking for?
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. urban planning, engineering, business or related discipline) or experience deemed equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements associated with the delivery of capital works.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Sound planning, organisational, time and project management skills, including the ability to manage changing priorities, handle multiple projects and meet objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including sound stakeholder management and engagement experience
