About the role:
In this role the Senior Engineer will provide technical engineering, design management and technical leadership for all aspects of Design Development and Project Delivery teams to ensure that the design of renewals and new assets meet performance standards and engineering standards. Your work will focus on the technical design of the solution and will include providing guidance to teams around design management, standards, resolution of technical issues, facilitation of deviation from standards, sourcing of specialised engineering support, buildability, operability and maintainability of designs as required, and facilitating stakeholder input into planning, design and acceptance activities. The role includes developing Business Cases, administering control of consultants’ contracts including variations, time extensions, disputes, performance, resource allocation and contractual finalisation. This role will also engage with contractors via Early Contractor Involvement to develop methodologies and cost estimates for projects.
About you:
- Engineering degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent that is recognised under the Washington Accord–civil, hydraulic, electrical/ mechanical, process
- Professional experience in Engineering – experience working in a design house, managing concept or detailed design, operational experience in process engineering or interface role, planning role and/ or project management
- Demonstrated experience in the planning and design of engineering projects for low to high risk/complexity multidisciplinary projects
- Developed skills in preparation of engineering project objectives, scope, and specifications
- Demonstrated experience in utilising engineering principles, methodologies and tools
- Understanding of regulatory requirements relating to planning and design of engineering solutions for small to medium capital projects
- A working knowledge in, and application of, appropriate legislation, standards and corporate policies including the Sydney Water Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Protection of the Environment and Operations Act, Government Access (Public Information) Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act and Contaminated Land Management Act.
