We are currently seeking Production Managers as part of our Water Resource Recovery business leading, a team comprised of a Process Controller, Operations and Maintenance Coordinator and Production Officers with initial placements at either the Bondi or Georges River Water Resource Recovery Facilities.

Reporting to the Water Resource Recovery South Lead this role will see you responsible for the day to day safe and compliant operation of either the Bondi Hub or Georges River Hub Water Resource Recovery assets.

The work of the Water Resource Recovery Team is essential to continuously improving the health of the rivers and beaches of Greater Sydney. We are developing water treatment solutions that contribute to the circular economy, restoring and reinvigorating the natural environment. You will be able to make a real difference to the community and the environment through this essential service.

Leadership & Team Development

You’ll lead, coach, and develop team members to enhance performance, drive succession planning, and promote both personal and professional growth, ensuring the team operates in alignment with Sydney Water’s core values and delivers a supportive, constructive working environment.

Safety & Compliance

You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and customer regulations, including Sydney Water’s Health and Safety Management System, as well as industry standards and legislation. You’ll empower team members and contractors to take ownership of safety, fostering proactive hazard identification and risk management.

Customer Experience & Product Quality

Overseeing operations to ensure that product outcomes are achieved consistently while maintaining compliance with regulations such as the Environmental Protection Licence. You’ll also manage operational performance to ensure product quality, availability, and efficiency, while meeting operational goals and customer demands.

Operational & Financial Management

You will manage Hub operations, budgets, and resource allocation to deliver efficient and cost-effective outcomes, driving continuous improvement across all areas. Additionally, you’ll lead risk management efforts and decision-making processes to ensure successful project delivery, prioritizing efficiency and financial discipline in the face of operational challenges.

Technical & Process Excellence

You will oversee the efficient delivery of wastewater treatment and resource recovery services, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards. Working with both internal and external stakeholders, you will drive operational improvements, manage capital and operational projects, and lead asset management strategies to enhance Hub performance and service delivery.


Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualifications in engineering / science or equivalent experience to meet the needs of the role
  • 5-10 years experience and knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Water, Wastewater, Recycled Water, and/or Resource Recovery facilities or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leadership role. Highly developed leadership and facilitation skills and demonstrated ability to build a high performing team
  • Demonstrated capability and commitment to improving safety performance
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across varying levels and communicate requirements effectively
  • Demonstrated business planning skills and ability to provide effective operational input into strategic and tactical asset planning, maintenance and renewal and asset creation 
  • Experience in SCADA systems 
  • Ability to use customised software, including business information systems 
  • Exposure to quality management systems (ISO 9000, 14000, 4801) 

Please note our plants operate 24/7. Flexibility in days and hours is required to meet business needs. This includes performing incident response outside of business hours.
