What will you be doing?

To provide highly competent system administration functions to ensure the integrity and reliable operation of Water Networks and Treatment Plants SCADA and IoT telemetry systems supporting operations of Customer Hub and Production. To participate in 24x7 support roster for SCADA and triage of after-hours Digital support calls. To lead improvements of reliability and performance of SCADA systems while enhancing internal partners experience and satisfaction.

  • Monitor and review the performance of the SCADA/IoT telemetry systems to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Provide daily system administration, operation, and on-going configuration of the SCADA telemetry systems. (including operating systems, SCADA applications and network).
  • Develop and maintain appropriate procedures for SCADA system administration tasks and ensure system administration standards and procedures are up to date, accurate and meet OT business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA server and workstation builds and provide on-going technical support.
  • Ongoing maintenance, upgrade, install and release of approved software and firmware installed on SCADA telemetry computers, servers, workstations, remote terminal units, field bus interface modules, network components etc.
  • Provide System Administration Help Desk and System Fault Management services to OT and service delivery partners.
  • Implement a system of user access and privileges for SCADA, remote users in line with best computer practices and/or approved SWC standards. 
  • Ensure system security (including physical, logical and information security) of the SCADA telemetry systems is implemented and maintained in line with industry best practise.
  • Co-ordinate all activities, including third-party contractors to ensure the integrity of all SCADA system data and all systems are backed up and restore procedures work.
  • Manage Operational Technology SCADA change request for SCADA system administration and network security configuration.
  • Participate in post incident reviews, identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with service delivery partners, ensuring that their needs are understood and the best solutions are determined.
  • Accept ownership of problems and ensure they are handled to internal partner's satisfaction.

Who are we looking for?

  • Deep understanding and practical knowledge of the Critical Control System operations in a Utility company especially from perspective of resilience and performance aspects of the technology
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in an Engineering or Computer Science or related discipline with proven experience in computer system administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of system administration activities needed to support advanced SCADA telemetry systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and associated system administration functions.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco IOS or equivalent communications equipment configuration 
  • Working knowledge of National and International Information Security standards.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA and telemetry system software.
  • Working knowledge of full system development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience in developing work instructions and procedures to ensure the reliability and availability of SCADA or telemetry systems. 
  • Ability to identify actual and emerging problems, and devise and implement solutions, which meet business requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse information and trends and to provide accurate and timely reports relating to the operation of SCADA or telemetry systems against defined performance targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships between the team, product delivery partners and service providers.
