At Sydney Water we’re innovating a sustainable future where every drop counts. We are looking for a strong, effective business transformation Project Director to drive the implementation of our Service Excellence organizational transformation across our asset management activities. 

 About the role: 

In this role, the Project Director will lead the successful delivery of the Service Excellence program outcomes whilst ensuring the realisation of program benefits within scope, time, resource, quality and budget constraints. This is a term role for 2 years.

You will drive the continued implementation of the Service Excellence Road map comprising multiple workstreams that cover the end-to-end value chain of service and asset management from strategy to operations, maintenance and construction. You will deliver a capability uplift in asset management across the organisation, ensuring service and corporate objectives and licence requirements are met.

What you’ll do: 

Impactful Leadership: Reporting into the Head of Water, Environment, and Infrastructure Performance, you will manage a direct project team of ~9, including change managers, project managers, coordinator etc, plus work across the business leading indirect workstream leads and teams of 20+ additional people.

Deliver business results: drive the implementation of the transformation program, ensuring that the project team and broader teams are set up for success and delivering change.

Know what good looks like: Work with our SME leaders to understand and continue to translate the strategic asset management approach that has been built at Sydney Water into enduring change and new ways of working.

Establish Productive Relationships: Establish yourself as a leader at Sydney Water, working with all levels of the organization to embed the transformation, using fit for purpose approaches including persuasion and influence where necessary to deliver outcomes.

Your experience and qualifications: 

Industry Experience: Significant relevant experience in engineering or infrastructure industries, delivering transformational changes. Water / utility experience is helpful but not essential.

Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated senior management expertise and extensive interpersonal skills to navigate the organization effectively to deliver outcomes. 

Transformation Delivery: demonstrated deep experience in delivering high impact infrastructure sector business transformation and operating model changes, ideally across operational businesses plus capital delivery.

Process and business improvement: Proven track record in business improvement, optimizing the balance between risk, cost, and performance to achieve business outcomes.

Education: Tertiary qualifications in engineering, technical discipline, business, or management, with relevant postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience. Certification in project or program management, and / or process improvement essential.
