About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic professional to take the lead in establishing and maintaining a standardised project accounting approach across our organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to drive financial management across projects, programmes, and portfolios, ensuring robust financial control, effective reporting, governance, and compliance management.
As the Manager- Project Accounting, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial oversight of projects, ensuring funds are effectively managed, compliance with all financial, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and to deliver effective decision-making information to the Board and Executive Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and approval of the annual and five-year prioritised capital program to reflect corporate plan priorities.
- Preparing capital budgets and project progress reports and regulatory inputs for executive stakeholders, NSW Treasury and IPART.
- Lead the development and implementation of a consistent project accounting framework across all projects, programmes, and portfolios.
- Establish and maintain effective financial reporting structures to ensure clear and transparent project financial performance.
- Provide expert oversight of project financials, ensuring adherence to governance, risk, and compliance standards.
- Manage and organise the day to day activities of the Project Accounting Team
- Work closely with stakeholders to assess financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Support senior leadership in making informed investment decisions based on financial analysis and project performance.
- Provide ongoing financial guidance to project managers and teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects within budget.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in budgeting and financial management within a project, programme, or portfolio environment.
- Strong understanding of project accounting practices and financial reporting.
- Experience in governance, risk, and compliance management in relation to financial management.
- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory processes and regulatory accounting
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong focus on ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, influence internal stakeholders and deal with external stakeholders.
- Relevant qualifications in finance, commerce or related fields.
