Manager Building Plan Assessment

About the Role:

The Manager Building Plan Assessment (BPA) provides specialised planning and technical advice to developer-facing teams for managing development cases effectively. The role builds strong relationships with professional developers and their water service coordinators to improve liveability outcomes.

The role is responsible for leading a team to ensure service level agreements are met and developer experience is improved, while also supporting the city's growth by connecting developers to the network and protecting assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the provision of specialised planning and technical advice to developer-facing teams to enable them to effectively manage the full spectrum of medium to high complexity development cases and projects, as well as connections.  
  • Managing high workloads and day-to-day interfaces with customers and ensure that issues and disputes are proactively resolved and that the needs of our customers are met
  • Contribute to the improvement of the case management process in close collaboration with developer-facing teams and implement clear and effective training and technical communication to Water Service Coordinators and developers
  • To manage the development of standardised, easily-understood and technically accurate processes, procedures, work instructions, and guidelines for developer-facing teams across the full range of medium to high complexity cases and projects.   
  • Support transformational business projects by providing expert advice on case management process and technical standards. 

Who are we looking for? 

You will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. urban planning, engineering or related field) or experience deemed equivalent. 
  • ​Specialist knowledge in all areas related to the planning and technical components of water services applications. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and drive business process improvement, with measurable results.  
  • Excellent oral and written communications – demonstrated ability to translate highly complex technical information into plain English and produce high quality documentation.  
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering design quality management for infrastructure planning, delivery and management.  
  • Understanding of competition and regulatory, financial considerations associated with a regulated service provider making commercial service offerings.
