We are the largest dedicated water and wastewater laboratory in the southern hemisphere with Tier 1 quality in our laboratory and field performance. This allows us to provide the highest level of assurance to the community of Sydney Water’s quality product.
We undertake sampling and analysis across all products, such as source water, drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, environmental waters (i.e. river, beaches, ocean sediments), stormwater, biosolids, sludges, grit & screenings.
About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader, your daily duties include receiving and testing of samples, data entry and following quality control processes.
You will perform a wide range of basic routine testing of samples from a variety of environments in accordance with our standard procedures to meet customer quality and time expectations and regulatory and operational requirements. Full training will be provided.
About you
Experience and Qualifications:
- TAFE or university qualification in chemistry or equivalent
- Interest in working in a laboratory and environmental chemistry.
Essential Requirements:
- Willing to work outside core hours on a rotational basis, flexible start/finish times between 7am to 6pm to meet contractual obligations.
- Undertake various water and soil laboratory preparatory functions including sample receipt.
- Ability to complete tasks on time and willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in following procedures and data entry.
- Effective communication skills, ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
- Work safely and report hazards & incidents.
- Basic ability to use computer and associated software.
