We are seeking a Category Manager to join our vibrant Digital Category team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned procurement professional looking to work within a high-performing, innovative team that plays a crucial role in shaping Sydney Water's future.  

As the Category Manager – Digital you will play a critical role in shaping and executing strategic technology sourcing initiatives that deliver value across the business. You will manage the development and execution of the Digital Category Plan while leading exciting projects that include sourcing, market engagement, contract negotiations, and vendor management. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure the strategic alignment of sourcing activities with the broader goals of the organisation. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage strategic projects for the Digital (IT) category, including shaping business requirements, market engagement, source-to-contract activities, negotiations, and contract handover. 
  • Oversee the delivery of strategic sourcing activities, driving key sourcing decisions and managing augmented resources. 
  • Stay connected with relevant market trends in IT, leveraging insights to influence the Category Planning process. 
  • Lead pricing reviews and contract re-negotiations, manage supplier performance, and address performance issues. 
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide category and contract strategies for Digital (Indirect) categories. 
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor for the Digital team. 

Required Qualifications & Experience 

  • 7+ years’ experience in Senior Sourcing Manager or Category Manager roles within a large, complex organization (preferably in the utilities, technology, or related sectors). 
  • Relevant degree qualification (e.g., Finance, Business, Supply Chain) or equivalent experience. 
  • Proven experience in leading complex, high value sourcing projects and managing contracts across categories. 
  • Extensive experience developing and executing category management plans. 
  • Strong expertise in strategic sourcing, contract development, supplier management, and procurement metrics reporting. 
  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application to be considered for this role.
