About the role

The purpose of this role is to design and develop project data models that meet organizational needs and that is aligned to Enterprise information model using conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

This role will contribute to the development and management of project and enterprise data model, data modelling standards and processes, applying them in the project delivery process to comply with Enterprise data policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and deliver data model, data mapping, and business glossary in the design and development of data and analytics solutions.
  • Work with business to understand the business requirement, convert the business to data requirement and help provision the data from the data source systems for analytics and reporting
  • Be involved, lead, or participate in business and technical sessions to document or review program documentation.
  • Work with team to design, deliver and document the end-to-end data design/solution. Present the proposed data design to business and developers and get an approval from the relevant stakeholders.
  • Bring knowledge of industry standard capability, data models, frameworks, and have experience applying them as a governance mechanism.
  • Engage with Sydney Water business SME, business analyst and business resources for projects and/or other engagements.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent with demonstrated experience in delivery of data model and design for Data and analytics project delivery.
  • Either certification or proven experience in data architecture / modelling using Industry model.
  • Sound experience in a data modeller and/or similar role and significant years of experience in IT.
  • Solid experience leading the creation of data model and managing the project data modelling delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in Azure or other cloud-based data and analytics data platform
  • Broad expertise across data modelling capabilities, principles and policies

 Skills:

  • Extensive understanding of Logical Data Models, Physical Data Models and Dimension Models and ability to deliver Logical Models and Physical Designs.
  • Intimate knowledge of data warehousing with respect to various data methodologies, such as Data Vault, 3rd Normal Form, Kimball
  • Strong knowledge and experienced on industry reference data model e.g., Teradata-FSLDM, IBM-Industry financial or utilities model (or any other industry reference model) and have used industry data model to deliver data model for a company
  • A deep understanding and experience of enterprise modern data architecture patterns and processes
  • Good understanding in creation and management of data management principles, data modelling and data naming standards
  • Suitable understanding of data ingestion, data consumption, data access & authorisation, ETL design and framework knowledge
