About the role

As an Senior Data Modeller,  your role is to design and develop project data models that align with organizational needs and the Enterprise information model, utilizing conceptual, logical, and physical data models. This role will also contribute to the development and management of project and enterprise data models, as well as data modelling standards and processes, ensuring their application in the project delivery process complies with Enterprise data policies and guidelines.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Develop and deliver data models, data mappings, and business glossaries for data and analytics solutions.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into data needs, and facilitate data provisioning from source systems for analytics and reporting.
  • Participate in or lead business and technical sessions to document or review program documentation.
  • Work with the team to design, deliver, and document end-to-end data solutions, presenting proposed designs to business and developers for stakeholder approval.
  • Apply industry-standard capabilities, data models, and frameworks as governance mechanisms.
  • Engage with Sydney Water business SMEs, business analysts, and other resources for projects and engagement

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent with demonstrated experience in delivery of data model and design for Data and analytics project delivery.
  • Either certification or proven experience in data architecture / modelling using Industry model.
  • Sound experience in a data modeller and/or similar role and significant years of experience in IT.
  • Solid experience leading the creation of data model and managing the project data modelling delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in Azure or other cloud-based data and analytics data platform
  • Broad expertise across data modelling capabilities, principles and policies

 Skills:

  • Extensive understanding of Logical Data Models, Physical Data Models, and Dimension Models, with the ability to deliver both Logical Models and Physical Designs.
  • In-depth knowledge of data warehousing methodologies, including Data Vault, 3rd Normal Form, and Kimball.
  • Strong expertise in industry reference data models, such as Teradata-FSLDM and IBM-Industry financial or utilities models, with experience in using these models to deliver data solutions for companies.
