Your role will involve:

As an SCADA Commissioning Support Engineer, your role is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and refinement of software and configuration for the SCADA System to monitor and control various water and wastewater assets. This includes assisting SCADA Field Commissioning Engineers in commissioning assets, ensuring assets meet required standards for monitoring by the System Operations Centre (SOC), reviewing operational performance post-commissioning and raising non-conformances, maintaining records for the configuration and setup of SCADA sites, and investigating and troubleshooting technical issues related to SCADA software and devices for water and wastewater systems.

What You’ll Bring:

Analytical Skills:

  • The ideal candidate demonstrates experience in operating, commissioning, and maintaining process control, SCADA, instrumentation, and telemetry systems, including RTUs and PLCs configuration.
  • Proficient in using and configuring SCADA systems for water and wastewater management. Comprehensive understanding of water and wastewater operations as provided by Sydney Water.
  • Skilled in telemetry communication networks (LAN and WAN), protocols such as Modbus and DNP3, and troubleshooting related issues.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve software and hardware problems in SCADA and telemetry systems. Experienced in implementing cyber security best practices in critical control systems. Capable of analysing asset operation and performance through SCADA reports. Knowledgeable in quality control and maintaining audit trails in engineering and system administration.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • The candidate will demonstrate success in working in teams to achieve business outcomes, coupled with well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, enabling effective liaison with Sydney Water Corporation’s personnel and external parties.

 Qualification and Experience:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a discipline related to Control Systems (e.g. Electrical/Electronic, Computer, Software or Control Engineering). 
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
