Sydney Water is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide technical engineering and design management expertise, across all phase of design development and detailed design.

Your work will focus on technical design of the solution and will include providing guidance to teams around design management, standards, resolution of technical issues, facilitation of deviation from standards, sourcing of specialised engineering support, buildability, operability and maintainability of designs as required. You will be responsible to facilitate stakeholder input into planning, design and acceptance activities. The role includes developing Business Cases, administering control of consultants’ contracts including variations, time extensions, disputes, performance, resource allocation and contractual finalisation. This role will also engage with contractors via Early Contractor Involvement to develop methodologies and cost estimates for projects.

About you:

  • Degree in Engineering in a relevant discipline or equivalent that is recognised under the Washington Accord–civil, hydraulic, electrical/ mechanical, process.
  •  At least 3-5 years of professional experience managing concept or detailed design of multidisciplinary engineering, infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Professional experience in engineering – experience working in a design house, leading concept or detailed design, operational experience in engineering or interface role, planning role and/ or project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and design of engineering projects for low to high risk complexity multidisciplinary projects.
  • Developed skills in preparation of engineering project objectives, scope, and specifications.
  • Well-developed communication skills, able to build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
