About the Role

Swinburne Open Education is looking for passionate and experienced educators with real-world expertise to deliver and assess online courses for the Certificate IV in Information Technology. As a Trainer and Assessor, you will act as both a subject matter expert and an educator, guiding students through their learning journey and enhancing the learning process with your industry knowledge.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting learners with assessment understanding and preparation, ensuring they feel confident and ready to succeed
  • Grading assessments and providing constructive feedback that promotes continuous improvement and learning
  • Monitoring student progress and providing timely support to those who need additional assistance or guidance
  • Being available and responsive to student queries, offering support and guidance to foster their academic success
  • Delivering engaging course content through interactive online sessions, utilizing real-world IT industry knowledge to enhance student learning experiences
  • Using your industry experience to add real-world context and value to student learning, making content practical and relevant
  • Staying up to date with the latest developments in Information Technology and vocational education to ensure the most current practices are reflected in your teaching
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of course materials, ensuring they remain innovative and effective
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to support the product development team in revising and developing new and existing course content

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will be a dedicated professional with a passion for sharing your expertise in Information Technology. You will have:

  • Relevant industry qualifications (minimum one AQF level higher than the Certificate IV in IT)
  • Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience in an IT-related role
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116, TAE40110 or equivalent)
  • Understanding of vocational education and training (VET) is preferred
  • Experience in delivering online learning and assessments
  • Excellent communication skills and an innovative approach to education delivery
  • Ability to provide evidence of registration to relevant industry associations and peak bodies if/as required for the industry area (where relevant)
