We are looking for an experienced SAP developer with strong DevOps expertise to establish and streamline application deployment pipelines and testing in SAP BTP. This role is critical in setting up CI/CD automation, improving application deployment efficiency, and ensuring high-quality releases across SAP BTP-based applications.
As our first dedicated SAP BTP DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with SAP developers, functional teams, and platform governance teams to define best practices and automate deployments for multiple applications running on BTP.
Furthermore, you'll work with a dynamic team driving SAP innovation and automation, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge SAP BTP technologies. This role offers you the chance to shape best practices and governance for BTP DevOps across our entire organization!
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for SAP BTP applications using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or SAP Project "Piper."
- Automating the build, test, and deployment process for SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP), RAP, and UI5-based applications.
- Defining and enforcing DevOps best practices, including source control (Git), code quality checks, and security scanning.
- Implementing testing automation frameworks (OPA5, Jest, Cypress) for SAP applications.
- Collaborating with SAP developers and functional teams to optimize deployment strategies.
- Working with the SAP BTP governance team to align DevOps processes with organizational standards.
- Troubleshooting and optimizing containerized deployments (Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes) in BTP.
- Monitoring application health and implement logging, alerting, and performance monitoring (Dynatrace, CloudWatch, or Prometheus).
This role offers the flexibility to be based anywhere across Australia – work from the location that suits you best! Alternatively, if you prefer an office environment, we have offices in Strathpine (Brisbane) and Rhodes (Sydney) ready for you!
About you
To deliver successful outcomes in this role, you will have:
- Strong SAP development background (SAP BTP, CAP, RAP, UI5, or ABAP in the cloud)
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or SAP Project "Piper")
- Experience in Cloud Infrastructure & Automation (Terraform, Ansible, or BTP CF CLI)
- Deep understanding of CI/CD for SAP applications and deployment automation in SAP BTP
- Familiarity with SAP BTP environments, including Cloud Foundry, Kyma, and SAP HANA Cloud
- Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks (OPA5, Jest, Selenium, Cypress)
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes for containerized application management
- Understanding of IAM & Security in SAP BTP (OAuth, XSUAA, JWT authentication)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
Nice-to-Have:
- SAP BTP certifications (SAP BTP Extension Developer, SAP Cloud Application Services, etc.)
- Experience in performance monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch)
- Knowledge of SAP Integration Suite (API Management, Event Mesh, CPI)
