The role

We are seeking a Category Manager with experience in IT Procurement (internally known as Category Manager - Strategic Projects). Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category plans that are aligned to strategic project initiatives for SRG, including sourcing and contract management activities, to ensure that projects are delivered on time, to budget and with a focus on procurement cost optimisation and minimising risk. 

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Performing data analysis
  • Developing a detailed category plan
  • Own the end-to-end tender process
  • Negotiating contract outcomes
  • Maintaining contract compliance
  • Managing supplier performance

About you

We are looking for someone with experience in traversing a matrixed business, has previously led projects and knowledgeable in dealing with IT vendors particularly enterprise software vendors and system integrators. Additionally, you will have: 

  • Strong knowledge and experience across procurement, with depth in transforming operational ownership to strategic management
  • Experience in strategic planning within a highly operational environment
  • An Agile mindset
  • Change and Project Management experience
  • Senior stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Experience within a similar organisation with in-peak trade periods – seasonal or cyclical.
