About the service:
The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.
The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:
- Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
- Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community.

Role Overview:
The Clinical Services Manager is a member of Stride’s management team and will have a pivotal role in the overall leadership and management of the MMHC TAS teams, including:
- Leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team to provide primary care and support for all accessing Medicare Mental Health Services in Tasmania.
- Overseeing and contributing to the development and implementation of clinical, financial, administrative systems and billing processes
- Ensuring the MMHC teams operate within a framework of continuous quality improvement and risk management.
- Facilitating and convening meetings of the Clinical Governance Committee and associated subcommittees.
Requirements:
- Must have one of the following: Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse, OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (or working towards)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing a mental health service
- Demonstrated experience working within a recovery-based model
- Demonstrated expertise in the management of a multi-disciplinary service delivery team, with the ability to lead the coordination of care for people with complex needs including consultation and engagement with a wide range of professionals/stakeholders.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to work and communicate effectively with clients, their families, community agencies and other professionals.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a high demand work environment and to exercise judgment and initiative.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
- Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
- Current Driver’s License
