Our service:

Safe Space Caboolture is a peer-led service that provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing emotional distress, allowing them to:

  • Identify accessible alternatives to presenting to hospital emergency departments
  • Access friendly support from people with a lived experience within the community
  • Connect to other services and community supports


On offer: 

  • Based in Caboolture, QLD
  • 2 x Permanent, part-time opportunity available (42 hours per fortnight, made up of 3 working days one week and 4 working days the next week in the overall fortnight)
  • Paying on HPSS Level 3 (above award payment for highly experienced clinicians) plus Super

Role Overview:

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinician will provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of adults and families accessing the service within a community based mental health care setting. As well as working with relevant service systems to respond appropriately to their mental health and developmental needs.

  • Providing high standard assessments, psychological, counselling and therapeutic interventions
  • Opportunities to run group programs
  • Liaising and working with internal and external stakeholders


Requirements:

  • Must have one of the following: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Counsellor with ACA/PACFA registration OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
  • Ideally 3 years’ experience working in peer lead services, comfortable with crisis response and suicidal presentation.  
  • Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planning
  • Sound understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness
  • Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
