We are currently seeking a Permit Issuer to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Superintendent – Process Operations.   

The Permit Issuer is responsible to perform a lead role in Isolations and Permit Issuing with respect to the processing plant facilities to ensure production targets are achieved in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. 

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities

  • Ensure offline work is performed in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
  • Performs permit issuing according to Policy and Procedures.
  • Recorded Isolation Instruction management and isolations (or delegation to appropriate Authorized Isolators to assist).
  • Recommends improvements to Isolation and Permitting procedures and documentation as sees fit.
  • Maintains clear and concise handovers with back-to-back Permit Issuer.
  • Contribute to the development of operating procedures for all process operations-based tasks as assigned.
  • Promote Isolation and Permitting safety to employees to minimize isolation accidents.
  • Recording and tracking of permits issued and issue of timely reports of unclosed permits. 

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Participate in all Process Plant Maintenance planning meetings (weekly and shutdown) and liaise with the maintenance staff and planners to schedule isolations and permits for plant maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all isolation plans, locks and isolation boards and permits are prepared for planned shutdowns.
  • Work nightshift as required to meet business goals.

People accountabilities

  • Assists Processing Supervisor with effective rundown and isolation of Processing Plant.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions

Essential

  • Attained Grade 12 Certificate
  • Ability to operate and work in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective organisational and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Valid drivers licence
  • Computer Skills in Outlook, Excel and Word 

Desirable

  • Certificate III in Mineral Processing or equivalent.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in Process operations with at least five (5) years in a similar role or processing leadership.
