We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist – Processing to join our team. This is a 12 month max term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.

Reporting to the Manager Processing you will provide mentoring, coaching, performance feedback and technical support for the Process Operations and Laboratory disciplines to safely achieve high mill production and plant utilisation that is essential for optimum processing operations within Simberi Operations.

 The opportunity

  • Developing, training, and coaching of Process Operations personnel in the skills of the plant operations, including but not limited to high-risk tasks such as Isolations and Confined Space Entry.
  • Support the Manager in development of procedures and processes to ensure safe and consistent operational performance.
  • Supporting operational loss investigations and implementing sustainable solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Providing mentoring to Process Plant Trainer on delivery of Certificate III Resource Processing modules and preparations for Operator testing.
  • Supporting where applicable, SOP development and Process department continuous improvement projects as assigned. 
  • Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of delivering Certificate III level qualifications in Resource Processing for Process Plant Operators and Certificate III in Laboratory Skills for laboratory personnel.
  • Contributing to the development of capability within the Processing Operations department.
  • Contributing to assist in the development of an effective and efficient team.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Ensuring outputs and development of the Processing Operations department personnel.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • Certificate III in Mineral Resource Operations.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Ability to produce a National Police Certificate.
  • Current unencumbered 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
  • Extensive experience in the mining sector.
  • Previous experience working within a gold mineral processing plant.
  • Strong communication skills, including communication with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals.
  • Demonstrated risk assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, developing, and empowering others.
  • Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
