We are currently seeking an Ancillary & Crane Specialist to join our team. This is a 12 month maximum term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.
Reporting to the Superintendent – Mobile Maintenance you will provide routine maintenance on equipment including but not limited to cranes, EWP’s, mobile generators, forklifts, telehandlers, side lifters, flat bed trailers, light trucks and light vehicles.
The opportunity
- Mentoring and leading a small team with a focus on their development. Working in consultation with the Training Department to identify training and development needs.
- Performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure availability and reliability targets are achieved.
- Fault finding and troubleshooting to determine causes of breakdowns or equipment faults, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic failures.
- Identifying areas that require improvement and contribute to implementing continuous improvement projects.
- Managing purchase requisitions for parts needed to maintain and repair equipment and controlling inventory supplies, tools and equipment relevant to the role.
- Ensuring Statutory Inspections on plant, quarterly testing and tagging of site lifting equipment is completed. All registers are updated and compliant.
- Completing routine planned maintenance to ensure equipment and machinery is in good working order and compliant with site requirements. This includes working with the Mobile Maintenance planning team to complete weekly and long-term equipment plans.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Current Heavy Duty Mechanic trade qualification or equivalent.
- Certificate III in Crane Operation and Rigging.
- At least five years relevant work experience in a similar role.
- Experience supervising and mentoring a small team.
- Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
- Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
