We are currently seeking a Mobile Maintenance Technical Specialist to join our team. This is a three year max term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent you will provide guidance and on-the-job training for Mobile Maintenance tradespeople, ensuring the safety and optimising the fleet availability to facilitate ore movement in alignment with the company's overarching vision and values.

 The opportunity

  • Supporting maintenance supervisors in ensuring that the mobile maintenance function adheres to safety, production, availability, and cost objectives.
  • Transferring technical knowledge to the national workforce to enhance their skills and knowledge of maintenance repairs and maintenance in mobile maintenance.
  • Assisting maintenance supervisors in coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair of all maintenance systems and equipment in the mobile plant to minimize disruption to mining operations and prevent downtime.
  • Maximising equipment availability for ore movement in mining operations.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of mobile plant maintenance performance to the Manager of Maintenance & Engineering and other relevant parties.
  • Identifying potential maintenance issues and implement effective preventative, predictive, and reliable maintenance, and document auto electrical maintenance activities for technical reporting as necessary.
  • Coordinating and setting an example in managing breakdown repairs when necessary and identifying opportunities to enhance plant and machinery performance. This includes being available for callouts during the night to assist the night shift team.
  • Providing guidance to the maintenance leadership team on any anticipated downtime or delays.
  • Coordinating periodic preventative maintenance inspections of all equipment, diagnose existing or potential issues, and clean, lubricate, and adjust the mobile plant as appropriate.
  • Providing expertise in maintenance system.
  • Taking responsibility for performing corrective activities and documenting maintenance activities and subsequent technical reporting as required.
  • Training national supervisors in the performance of all operators and maintenance tradesman, supervise and control maintenance planning and scheduling, provide leadership and direction for the Maintenance department, and assist in the mobile plant when necessary.
  • Ensuring that the Mobile Plant Maintenance function develops and utilises effective plans that align with the engineering department and Simberi Operations plans.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • Certificate III Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
  • Ability to produce a National Police Certificate.
  • Current unencumbered 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
  • Extensive experience in the mining sector.
  • Certificate IV Training & Assessing would be desirable.
  • A proven track record of continuous improvement in operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of relevant PNG mining legislation and regulations.
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high-performance goals.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Proactive with an ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
