We are currently seeking a Project Metallurgist to join our team. This is a 3-year max term full time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 FIFO Roster from any Australian capital city.

Reporting to the Metallurgy Superintendent you will contribute to optimising the extraction and processing of gold in the Processing Department to achieve maximum gold recovery and throughput and achieve maximum gold recovery from ore delivered to the ROM.

 The opportunity

  • Ensuring that Metallurgy systems and procedures are adhered to and followed on an ongoing basis.
  • Contributing to ensuring that the Processing Department delivers to plan in respect of production, recovery and cost per tonne.
  • Maintaining close liaison with Plant Metallurgists to optimise plant performance and eliminate constraints.
  • Maintaining close liaison with Metallurgy Supervisor and Operating teams to optimise plant availability and utilisation by identifying and eliminating constraints.
  • Contributing to ensuring that the Process Department meets it’s environmental, community and statutory obligations through analysis and recommending changes as appropriate to plant operating targets.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the Processing Department by management of metallurgical improvement projects (systems & physical).
  • Contributing to timely and accurate reporting as required by the department project management procedures.
  • Managing the best use of your own time and other resources to achieve the required outcomes.
  • Providing input into improvement project priorities.

 We would love to hear from you if you have​:

  • Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy.
  • Ability to produce a National Police Certificate.
  • Current unencumbered 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
  • Extensive experience in the mining sector.
  • Previous experience working within a gold mineral processing plant.
  • Strong communication skills, including communication with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals.
  • Previous expat experience in a developing country & challenging environment would be desirable.
