We are currently seeking a Leading Hand House - Keeping to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Camps Superintendent.   

The Leading Hand House - Keeping is responsible for the management of camp accommodation and sanitation facilities This role ensures the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety and services are maintained to deliver clean accommodation and related facilities to employees/guests. 

The opportunity 

Technical accountabilities

  •  Supervise house keeping and janitorial staff, scheduling shifts and training new employees.
  •  Conduct regular inspections of rooms, public areas, laundry rooms, etc. to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
  •  Address and resolve any complaints or issues regarding housekeeping services
  •  Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and conduct regular audits to manage inventory levels.
  •  Conduct fortnightly stock-takes and update Camps Superintendent on necessary stock requirements.
  •  Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and regulations.
  •  Implement safety protocols and provide training on safety procedures to staff.
  •  Coordinate with the maintenance department to address repair and maintenance issues promptly.
  •  Maintain administrative records and submit reports of housekeeping operations to the Camps Superintendent.
  •  Identify training and development needs for housekeeping staff.
  •  Address employees’ work performance and personal issues.
  •  Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth operations and excellent guest experience

Essential

  •  Previous supervisory or managerial experience in housekeeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with residents and team members.
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational skills to manage workload and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Several years of experience in housekeeping or a similar role.

Desirable

  • Physically fit and healthy.
  • Understanding of housekeeping practices, hygiene standards and the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
