Make an impact at Serco
The Infrastructure & Equipment team is responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings, plant and equipment across the Hospital Campus including:

  • First Response
  • Planned preventative maintenance.
  • Reactive maintenance.
  • Project work including modification to existing infrastructure.
  • Installation of new infrastructure.
  • Monitoring performance and condition of the infrastructure.

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for driving operational excellence and innovation to deliver sustained and compelling business value. The role is a critical leadership position for the Facility Management portfolio requiring agile and inspirational leadership mindsets to create a high performing and positive culture across a technically diverse operational team.
The position requires a high level of customer focus and fluent and flexible stakeholder management, representing Serco in multiple stakeholder forums with customers.

This role calls for a strategic leader skilled in people management to achieve site wide KPIs and ensure reliable delivery of services, with a strong focus on safety, customer relationships, quality standards, and performance outcomes. Tasked with overseeing infrastructure and assets in a high-pressure, critical infrastructure environment, the ideal candidate will bring resilience, operational know-how, and the ability to optimize a 24/7 maintenance team for an 800-bed facility. This role requires adaptability, decisive leadership, and a proactive commitment to continuous improvement within a challenging healthcare setting.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience within a complex, unionised maintenance environment.
  • Proven experience in driving strategic objectives and motivating teams to achieve initiatives and goals.
  • Ability to successfully manage complex budgets and work within a KPI driven environment.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders in various contexts.
  • Knowledge and experience related to asset management, plant and equipment found within a hospital environment is preferred.
  • Experience with risk and compliance, ensuring the adherence to policies, procedures, relevant legislation, regulation, and contractual obligations. 
  • Demonstrated safety-first culture leader.
