Dental Hygienist

About The Location:

Townsville Health Centre is located at RAAF Base Townsville, 6.5km outside Townsville. The health centre provides primary medical, aviation medical, dental, nursing, mental health, physiotherapy, and pharmaceutical services. The standard operating hours of the centre are 0700-1630 Monday – Thursday and a half day (5.5 hours) Friday. 

About The Role:
 

• Part time role – 2 days a week - Mondays & Thursdays
• $60 p/h
• Operate in a largely independent role

Primary Duties:

• Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments
• Take and develop dental X-rays as needed
• Conduct patient examinations, assessing oral health and hygiene needs
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care
• Apply sealants and fluoride treatments to protect teeth
• Record patient medical and dental histories
• Sterilize dental instruments and maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Provide advice on diet and lifestyle factors affecting oral health
• Maintain accurate patient records and follow infection control procedures
• Ensure the optimal hygiene of the dental surgery

Mandatory Requirements:

• Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance
• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Dental Hygienist or Oral Therapist
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certification
