Seeking a Full Time Dentist to join the dental team at Oakey Health Centre to contribute to positive dental health outcomes for the Australian Defence Force personnel. This role is Monday to Friday with shifts 7:30am - 3:30pm daily, no nights or weekend shifts.
As a Dentist, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Providing emergency dental treatment
- Completing dental examinations, reviews and referrals
- Providing preventative treatment such as scaling, cleaning and fluoride therapy
- Restoring teeth damaged by caries or trauma, rebuilding tooth structures and providing crowns and bridges
- Treating diseases of the roots, gums and soft tissues of the mouth and carry out various minor oral surgical procedures
- Managing/treatment planning/referrals for malformation and misalignment of teeth and jaws (functional reasons only, not cosmetic)
- Designing dentures and oral appliances
- Extracting teeth, including simple surgical extractions
- Performing root canal treatment of incisors to pre molars and molars with uncomplicated canal morphology
- Diagnosing and managing TMJ related disorders
About ADF Health Services
In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.
This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 45+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.
About Oakey Health Centre
Oakey Health Centre is located at the Army Aviation Centre (AAC) 3km outside Oakey. It is the training area for Australian Army Aviation and is home to the 126 Squadron (Cougar helicopters) of the Republic of Singapore Air Force. With approximately 500 members, the health centre provides primary medical, aviation medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmaceutical and mental health services. It is also an emergency response to AAC. Health centre staff may be required to work across Cabarlah & Oakey. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements will determine shift lengths).

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Dentist, General with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Minimum of 3 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) post graduate clinical chair-side experience with at least 2 years full-time equivalent within the last 5 years.
- Recent participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA
- Current First Aid (HLTAID003) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001) certification
Please note:
- You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
- You don’t need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
