Make an impact at Serco
As a Provisional Psychologist in the Psychological Health Services team, you will provide psychological assessment and intervention to prisoners, focusing on suicide and self-harm risk assessment and crisis intervention. Working within a multidisciplinary care team, you will deliver high-quality psychological care for inmates, ensuring their wellbeing and safety. This is a full-time role based at Acacia Prison, Wooroloo.

As a Provisional Psychologist in the Psychological Health Services team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments and developing treatment plans for inmates at risk of self-harm.
  • Providing individual counselling and group therapy sessions for prisoners experiencing psychological distress.
  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored psychological services.
  • Preparing accurate and defensible documentation, including progress notes, formulations, and treatment plans.
  • Offering evidence-based psychological interventions appropriate for a forensic population.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Psychology.
  • Provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Association (AHPRA).
  • Experience in providing individual counselling, preferably within a correctional or institutional environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional report writing abilities for accurate and defensible documentation.
