As an Engineering Officer – DMSS, you will play a key role in supporting engineering changes for the Defence Maritime Support Services (DMSS) contract. Reporting to the National Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the development and improvement of maintenance processes for a range of marine vessels. This role is available on a casual or fixed-term basis, offering flexibility while making a real impact.
As an Engineering Officer in the DMSS team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Creating and improving maintenance plans for DMSS SP1 vessels
- Developing parts lists for maintenance instructions
- Supporting engineering and maintenance change processes
- Managing documentation, reporting, and tracking of project work
- Assisting in project management tasks for Defence engineering initiatives
- Collaborating with Navy, and port team staff
- Supporting compliance with DMSS contract obligations and statutory requirements

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Experience in Defence or maritime industries
- A tertiary qualification in a maritime or engineering discipline (e.g., Marine or Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture)
- Technical knowledge of commercial or Defence vessels
- Familiarity with vessel maintenance and diesel engine systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- (Desirable) Understanding of domestic commercial vessel certification, Primavera scheduling, or experience in Defence project management
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to obtain Defence Baseline Security Clearance
