About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking Catering Assistants to join the team at Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre (YHIDC) based in Northam, WA. Reporting to the Catering Manager, you will ensure the smooth and successful operation of the food service process, whilst complying with all food hygiene regulations. This is a full-time position working on a rotating roster which covers the hours of 9:00am – 8:30pm. You will work across a seven-day roster including public holidays, working a 7-day fortnight

What you’ll be doing 

  • Assist the head Chef with Catering Operations
  • Ensure compliance with Serco and DIBP/FDSP Codes of Conduct, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an exceptionally high standard of food production service and food hygiene
  • Assist, when required, in the preparation and service of any functions required
  • Maintain stock levels, replenish and clean areas.

About you - your ideal skills & experience 

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • Minimum Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (SIT20312) or equivalent qualification
  • Basic Food Hygiene / Food Safety Handling Certificate
  • Demonstrated experience with basic kitchen processes and food preparation.
  • Ability to assist the Catering Manager and Chefs in preparation of the daily menu.
  • Understanding of OHS legislation and management of hazards.
