Make an impact at Serco
As a Registered Nurse - Mental Health, you will play a key role in providing high-quality mental health care to inmates at Acacia Prison. You will conduct health assessments, provide case management, and offer support to patients with diagnosed mental health conditions. Working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the safety and well-being of both inmates and staff. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Wooroloo, WA.

As a Registered Nurse - Mental Health in the Health team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments for patients.
  • Creating and implementing care plans in collaboration with other health professionals.
  • Managing patients with complex mental health needs, ensuring quality care.
  • Facilitating access to pharmacotherapy and other treatments for mental health.
  • Working closely with custodial staff to ensure safety and security during crisis situations.
  • Providing education and consultation to peers on mental health management strategies.

You are a compassionate and skilled nurse with a strong background in mental health care. You have experience working in a mental health setting and are committed to providing patient-centered care in a correctional environment. You excel in collaboration, have excellent communication skills, and can adapt to the unique challenges of working in a high-security facility.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a mental health setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of mental health issues and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of diverse patient needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
