Make an impact at Serco
As the Assessment Coordinator, you’ll be an integral part of the HR Connect team at Fiona Stanley Hospital, dedicated to ensuring efficient and high-quality processes for selecting and assessing applications across clinical services, nursing and midwifery, internal logistics and patient support services as well as other key medical units. Unlike a tradition end to end recruitment role, this role does not include responsibilities for job advertisement creation, marketing, or candidate attraction strategies but rather specialises in providing administrative and creative support to design and facilitate assessments.
This role is primarily site-based at Fiona Stanley Hospital, requiring your on-site presence to support daily operations, enable real-time collaboration, ensure effective communication and immediate problem-solving.
This dynamic role involves:
Application Administration

  • Manage the flow of applications after the job advertisement closes until the commencement of compliance and background checks.
  • Conduct administrative checks on applications for conflicts of interest, visa status, and completeness.
  • Utilise and navigate multiple systems and platforms that facilitate a smooth interview process and recruitment experience.

Creative Assessment Design

  • Work closely with hiring panels to understand job requirements and to establish clear evaluation criteria for applicant scoring.
  • Design content and strategies for assessing applications, including practical exercises, group exercises, and interview questions to evaluate specific skills, competencies, and attributes.
  • Prepare instructions and guidance materials for applicants and panel members to ensure clarity and consistency.

Consensus and Assessment Facilitation

  • Guide panels to reach a consensus on shortlisted applicants, ensuring fair and compliant decision-making.
  • Facilitate practical assessments, including managing computer lab sessions for applicants and overseeing the administration of assessments, including presentation of instructions, coordinating setup and logistics for practical exercises or group tasks.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Draft comprehensive summary reports documenting every step of the recruitment process.
  • Include detailed records of shortlisting scores, application notes, and rationales for decisions.
  • Ensure documentation meets public sector regulation standards to mitigate breach risks and address compliance concerns swiftly, collaborating with stakeholders to prevent process disruptions.

Serco is a place for you.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex processes across multiple systems and stakeholders.
  • Creative mindset to develop and refine assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to mediate panel discussions, resolve disagreements, and guide conversations to productive outcomes.
  • Attention to Detail and a meticulous approach to documentation, ensuring compliance.
  • Recognising the importance of adhering to processes to prevent breaches.
  • Experience in supporting recruitment or similar operational processes.
