Make an impact at Serco
As a Psychologist within the Psychological Health Services (PHS) team at Acacia Prison, you’ll provide psychological assessment and intervention to prisoners facing various issues, with a particular emphasis on suicide and self-harm risk assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally, PHS provides targeted psychological interventions tailored to the needs of a forensic population. We are offering full-time or part time position based in Wooroloo, WA.

As a Psychologist in the Psychological Health Services team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team to support prisoners in psychological distress and/or functional impairment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop management plans for self-harm prevention. 
  • Provide individual counselling and group therapy to prisoners with current psychological needs. 
  • Preparing accurate, defensible documentation including progress notes and treatment plans.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • A degree in Psychology(BPsych or BAPsych-Honours); OR Masters/Doctoral degree in Psychology(Forensic, Clinical, Counselling) and full registration with AHPRA.
  • Solid understanding of evidence-based practices in assessment and intervention of different psychological and behavioural presentations.
  • Experience in delivering individual counselling, preferably in correctional or institutional settings.
  • Strong teamwork skills in a multi-disciplinary environment 
  • Strong report-writing with accurate and defensible documentation 
  • A commitment to cultural sensitivity
