We are seeking a skilled and dedicated, Casual Dental Hygienist to join our team in Holtze. 

 

About The Role
As the Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of quality oral hygiene advice and dental hygiene services to eligible personnel in accordance with Defence Policies and Procedures.

  • Provide oral hygiene advice and dental hygiene services per Defence Policies.
  • Perform routine treatments (e.g., impression taking, root planing, implant maintenance).
  • Conduct periodontal charting, exams, reviews, and referrals.
  • Promote and maintain oral health.
  • Take prescribed intra-oral/extra-oral radiographs.
  • Assist practitioners and specialists in procedures.
  • Implement infection control per National Standards.
  • Take impressions and issue mouthguards.
  • Pour dental models as directed.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the surgery.
  • Manage patient care per approved protocols.
  • Provide clinical/technical advice to JHC.
  • Handle patient records, bookings, and recalls.
  • Manage relevant patient clinics (e.g., pre-admission, vaccination).
  • Participate in governance, quality improvement, and audits.
  • Order and maintain clinical/pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Perform equipment checks, calibration, and maintenance.


About us and the Location
Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide civillian clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care. The Robertson Health Centre is located on Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15 km east of the city of Darwin. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2,800 defence staff, with a large reserve component. The health centre provides primary medical, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy, and mental health services, and operates a 22-bed 24/7 ward. Standard operating hours are 0730-1530, Monday-Friday.

 

About You
As the ideal applicant you will have:

  • A degree in Dental Hygiene.
  • A current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Dental Hygienist or Oral Health Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience in routine dental hygiene treatments and administrative tasks. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within a dental surgery setting.
  •  Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
