As a Trade Instructor - Metal Fabrication at Acacia Prison, you’ll play a crucial role in providing training and employment skills to inmates in metal fabrication. This full-time, permanent role will have you guiding inmates in technical skills that contribute to their rehabilitation and reintegration, preparing them for opportunities post-release.

As a Trade Instructor in the Metal Fabrication team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

• Delivering vocational training in metal fabrication and developing inmates’ employability
• Ensuring a safe, secure working environment that aligns with WHS standards
• Conducting daily audits of tools and equipment to maintain security compliance
• Assisting with sentence management through structured activities and reporting
• Promoting the value of vocational training within the correctional facility

You are a skilled metal fabrication professional with a passion for training others. You’re organized, safety-conscious, and thrive in a structured environment where you can make a difference by equipping others with valuable skills.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

• A Certificate IV in Engineering - Fabrication (Light) and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in metal fabrication
• Knowledge of WHS requirements in an industrial environment
• Strong communication skills with a focus on cultural sensitivity and collaboration
• Valid Driver’s License and Forklift License
