As a Registered Nurse – Drug & Alcohol at Serco's Clarence Correctional Centre, you will provide primary care using a patient-centred model, supporting inmates to actively engage in their health management. You'll be part of a supportive team, collaborating with correctional staff to deliver integrated health services that prioritise rehabilitation, safety, and high standards of care.

As a Registered Nurse in the Drug & Alcohol team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Assessing and managing intoxication and withdrawal states
  • Acting as a triage point for non-alcohol and other drug staff
  • Conducting comprehensive and accurate health assessments for patients
  • Promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates
  • Collaborating with correctional staff to ensure safe, patient-centered care
  • Maintaining high standards of practice to facilitate safe healthcare delivery

About Clarence Correctional Centre

Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional Centre in Australia. Located on the beautiful NSW Mid-North Coast approx. 6 hours' drive from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Brisbane our region offers rainforests, epic headlands, sand dunes, and some of the best Australian beaches with a variety of multi-cultural cafes, restaurants, and friendly community towns. To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in mental health or drug and alcohol, or extensive experience in the field
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol programs
  • Strong analytical skills to assess physiological, psychological, and social information
