ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.  As part of this contract, Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care. To learn more please visit www.serco.com/ahsc


About the Role

As the Dental Officer, you will hold the pivotal responsibility for delivering comprehensive dental services to patients. This encompasses a broad spectrum of care, ranging from emergency treatments and routine examinations to preventative measures, restorations, minor oral surgeries, x-ray diagnostics, extractions, root canal therapies, and the meticulous design and management of prosthodontic solutions. Your expertise will be central to ensuring the optimal oral health and well-being of our patients.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the senior dental officers (as per clinic size), medical officers, nursing officers, and specialist dental providers to deliver holistic dental care of the highest standard.
  • Assume a critical role in advocating for and upholding optimal oral health standards in alignment with Defence Policies and Procedures, thereby safeguarding the well-being of personnel.
  • Thoroughly assess and certify the dental fitness of patients for deployment, ensuring readiness and resilience across all operational scenarios.


About the Location

Robertson Health Centre is located on Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15km east of the city of Darwin. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2,800 defence staff, with a large reserve component. The Barracks also accommodates an additional 2500 US marines every 6 months from May to September. The Health Centre provides primary medical, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy, and mental health services, and operates a 22-bed 24/7 ward. Standard operating hours are 0730-1530, Monday-Friday.


About You

Your passion for providing the highest quality dental services is at the heart of everything you do. You have a friendly and professional manner which automatically puts patients at ease, and you take pride in your ability to inspire trust from both your patients and colleagues alike. 

As the ideal applicant you will have:

  • A current, unconditional, and unrestricted registration as a Dentist, General with AHPRA
  • At least 2 years’ full-time post graduate clinical chair-side experience within the last 5 years
  • Recent participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA
  • A current First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certificate
  • Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance
