About the Role

This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidates to work at the Safe Night Space which will provide support and assistance to those sleeping rough for 12 hours of the day. The Safe Night Space hours of operation are between 6:30pm – 7:30am, Monday to Sunday including public holidays on a rotating roster.

The Key Worker position is at the forefront of the organisation in providing client facing recovery support interventions.

Your role requires advocating with and on behalf of the client to meet wider social, health and well-being needs. You will be responsible for undertaking tasks that support case management, documentation, referrals, and appointments.

This is a part time role working 15 hours per week. Please note this role involves shift work, consisting of weekend work, night shifts, and working public holidays, with the relevant penalty rates applied.

What we’re looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Skills in reflective practice and highly developed report writing using analytical reasoning.

• Relevant qualifications in a related discipline at degree, diploma, or certificate level/ less formal qualification with work or lived experience (at least 3 years) to perform sufficiently at this level /or demonstrated work experience at the level.

• Ability to support and mentor support workers.

• Advanced computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and client reporting system.

• Ability to engage and maintain professional relationships with clients and their wider natural supports with multiple needs and issues.

• Demonstrated understanding of complex issues facing people who experience chaotic life circumstances such as homelessness, AOD use, family/domestic violence and mental health issues.

• Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, mission, core values and the guiding principles of the organisation.

• Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture.

What do we offer?

  • A salary aligned with Level 4 of the Ruah Enterprise Agreement (and the SCHADS Award), starting at $85,399, pro rata.
  • 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% annual leave loading. Shift workers who work more than 10 Saturdays or Sundays in a 12 month period will also receive an extra week of annual leave.
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave, with flexibility to take at 32 weeks half-pay (uniquely, new staff can access 4 weeks paid parental leave after just 6 months’ service).
