About the Role

The Team Lead – Karlup Service is an important operational and leadership role responsible for supporting the Service Lead to effectively manage the Karlup Service. This role provides leadership to a range of professionals across the Karlup Service, ensuring the cultural and trauma informed delivery of an efficient and seamless end to end healing and recovery service for women and children.

The Team Lead supports the Service Lead to advocate on behalf of clients served by the Karlup team within senior and executive level decision making forums. In this regard, the Team Lead will have a significant role in shaping the strategic direction of the Karlup Service.

The Karlup Service is a unique and innovative Healing and Recovery service for women recovering from the impacts of family and domestic violence, located at Ruah's state-of-the-art Ruah Centre for Women and Children: The 'Angela Wright Bennett Centre'. 

The Karlup Service employs a unique model of care which offers a seamless spectrum of offerings which women and children can engage with as they need, when they need it, and for as long as they need it to help foster their own strength and resilience and recreate a future free from violence.

This is a full-time fixed term contract for a 12 month period, commencing in June 2025.

What we’re looking for

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Knowledge and expertise in current and emerging issues of family and domestic violence.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a clinical case management setting.
  • Experience in reflective leadership practice and the management of teams and a diverse range of staff.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity and social inclusion including gender, sexuality, disability, age, cultural and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.
  • Experience in managing a group of direct reports and conducting frequent supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff and stakeholders and ensure strong community sector engagement.

Relevant qualifications in a related discipline at degree, diploma or certificate level (e.g. Social Work or Counselling) and/or significant work experience with family and domestic violence are considered to be desirable traits, but not essential.

  • A salary aligned with Level 5 of the Ruah Enterprise Agreement (and the SCHADS Award), starting at $97,689 per annum.
