About the Role

The Case Worker (what we call a Koorta Guide) is a critical role for Adult and Children clients within the Karlup Service. Koorta is a Noongar word which means “trusted one”. Koorta Guides are at the heart of the Karlup Service model and play a critical role in supporting women and their children throughout their journey of healing and recovery by walking alongside them to gain a deeper understanding of their needs, work collaboratively to develop a plan for their future, and provide practical support to access internal offerings and navigate external support services.

This is a permanent full time role working 38 hours per week between the hours of 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday. Please note that this position is only available for employees who identify as female, due to the inherent requirements of the role. This is a genuine occupational qualification in accordance with section 27 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 .

What we’re looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Liaising with Child Protection;
• Providing support through assessing individual needs and creating case management plans;
• Advocating for children's rights and interests;
• Collaborating with refuge staff and mothers;
• Offering educational resources for both children and their mothers;
• Facilitating and supporting clients to appropriate services; and
• Creating children's programs and school holiday programs.
