About the Role

At Ruah, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our Mental Health & Wellness Team.

As a Support Worker, you will work in a trauma informed way to liaise with Support Coordinators and provide capacity building support as determined by the client’s recovery goals. The focus of work is to support clients to reconnect with community and improve their mental health and wellbeing and overall quality of life.

This is a full-time permanent position. The hours of work are between 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday, however this may occasionally include weekend and public holiday work by arrangement.

What we’re looking for

  • Completion of or progress towards a relevant qualification (Certificate II/III), and/or relevant work experience, and/or lived experience.
  • Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
  • Ability to model positive behaviours, emotional maturity, coping skills and resilience.
  • Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
  • Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, mission, core values and the guiding principles of the organisation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity, gender and social inclusion, particularly Aboriginal culture.
