Vegetation Control Operator (Spray Operator)

Green by Nature is proud to be the Waitaki District Council's trusted service provider, dedicated to maintaining the region’s many parks, playgrounds, gardens and public facilities. To continue the great work the team is completing, we are now looking for a reliable individual to join our small but mighty team as a Vegetation Control Operator.

What does a Vegetation Control Operator do?

Simply put, you’ll play a key role in controlling vegetation and eradicating pest plants across the district’s parks, reserves, and roadsides. Your daily tasks will include:

• Applying herbicides and carrying out chemical spraying
• Removing weeds manually
• Operating spray equipment and machinery
• Keeping a spray diary up-to-date
• Supporting other teams when needed – we’re all about pitching in to get the job done!

What are we looking for?

Experience in pest plant management is a bonus, but not essential. If you enjoy working outdoors, have a strong work ethic, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you could be a great fit! We’re looking for someone who has:

• A current full driver’s licence (manual preferred)
• A Growsafe Certificate – or a willingness to get one (we’ll help you!)
• A team-oriented attitude – being a great teammate should come naturally
• A safety-focused mindset – ensuring the well-being of yourself, your team, and the public
• Basic computer and smartphone skills – handy for job tracking and communication
• Good physical fitness – the role involves walking, lifting, and working in various weather conditions
