Due to an internal promotion, we are now seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Auckland Sports Fields and Mowing teams. Reporting to the Open Spaces Manager, you will play a vital role in establishing and maintaining operations that not only meet but exceed contract specifications, creating exceptional spaces for the community. With teams across West and North Auckland, you will oversee four direct reports, with a combined staff number of approximately 70 staff.

To excel in this role, you should be a confident leader with prior experience in the same or similar industry and a proven track record of leading teams to success. You should be approachable, able to thrive in unexpected situations, and capable of making sound decisions to provide certainty and confidence to the team.

Key Requirements

  • Financial Acumen: Strong skills in developing targets, maintaining budgets, and analysing operational initiatives, with a proven ability to manage projects within time and budget constraints.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and computer skills, along with proficiency in report writing. You should be an effective communicator, capable of building strong relationships both internally and with external clients.
  • People Management: Exceptional skills in recruitment, performance management, engagement, training, and development.
  • Safety Commitment: A positive attitude towards working safely and a commitment to upholding our company's health and safety culture.
  • Qualifications: A qualification in Sports Turf Management is advantageous.
  • Driver's Licence: A full New Zealand driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
